We’re taught to think of relationships like they’re static states of being in connection or disconnection, but they’re actually ecosystems that move through cycles of closeness, discord, and repair.
For many people, these normal and necessary seasons end up being the downfall of their relationship. Why? Because we aren’t taught how to navigate discord and repair.
Discord is built into the very nature of relationships.
Moment by moment, day by day, you have opportunities to deepen trust in yourself, developing the insights and skills you need to address the hard moments in your relationships, and expand your capacity to navigate rupture and repair. When you navigate rupture and repair inside relationship you grow trust that —together— you can do hard things.
Understanding the natural cycles of relationships and tuning into to your own nervous system will help you slow down and build greater resilience and trust that you can navigate repairs and that discord and repair can lead you into greater intimacy and deeper trust with yourself and all of your relations.
The Connectfulness® approach blends integrative relational trauma modalities with deeply attuned, un-agenda-ed presence to help heal legacy burdens, increase trust in the wisdom of protective systems, and develop relational practices to support generational wellness.
Hello, I’m Rebecca Wong, LCSW, SEP
I’m a trauma therapist and educator who specializes in integrative modalities for somatic relational trauma resolution. My life’s work has long been about helping people —like you and me— to heal legacy burdens, increase trust in the wisdom of our protective systems, and develop relational practices that support generational wellness.
My journey into this work led me through indirect explorations of religion, philosophy, art, film and photography, wilderness survival, grief, and sexuality. Though I now recognize how these explorations weave together rich with meaning, for a long time, I felt I was stumbling to find my way.
I blend modalities for relational trauma healing. I’m a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, Internal Family Systerms therapist, certified in Relational Life Therapy and Developmental and Relational Trauma Therapy and deepening training in new neurobiological approach called the STAIR Method. I weave together these modalities in an integrative, experiential, deliberate practice I call Connectfulness®.
I reside in New York’s Hudson Valley on unceded Lenapehoking land with my husband, our teens, and a handful of four-legged furry mischief-makers. I maintain a private therapy practice online serving folks (18+) in the states of New York, Colorado, and Massachusetts. I’m a neurodivergent cis white woman. I go by the pronouns she/her/they.
I host/co-host podcasts that center on the relational healing journey, facilitate experiential workshops, and consult with therapists who want to integrate somatic trauma recovery, relational health interventions, and shared-power-with practice into their clinical work. I also especially love offering virtual relationship intensives to folks seeking profound relational shifts. I have a special interest in supporting folks around relational crisis that tend to arise in mid-life.
The Why Does My Partner podcast tackles questions from listeners who want help in relationships. These questions —your questions— are relational gold, they echo the conversations that take place over and over again in our therapy offices and take us deep into the skills at the heart of relational intimacy, greater health, and fulfillment.
