Just like your private practice website, social media can be one more bridge that connects you to your ideal clients. But building a successful brand for your practice depends on one thing above all else – consistency. And you’re far more likely to end up with a full waitlist much sooner if you’re consistently putting yourself out there and building your brand on social media.
In this article, we’ll walk you through how to create a social media strategy for your private practice in 4 easy steps.

Step 1: Decide what kind of content you want to post on social media
There are so many different ways you can engage with your ideal client on social media. Here are some of our favorite ideas to get you started:
- Share links to posts from your website’s blog
- Promote your individual specialty services and include link to those pages on your website
- Raise awareness for a specific mental health day/week/month
- Create a printable freebie (such as a checklist) that your followers can download
- Share an inspirational or motivational quote
- Share one of your favorite books you often recommend to clients
- Give your followers a “behind the scenes” look at your practice and its employees
- Answer an FAQ about your industry or the specific services you provide
Step 2: Pick your platforms & decide how often you’ll post to each one
These days there are so many different social media platforms out there, it’s hard to know which ones are the best choice for your practice. However, the majority of private practice owners tend to stick to a combination these 4 staple platforms:
Whether you choose to utilize all of these platforms, or just choose a couple, is completely up to you. The best way to make this choice is by finding out which platforms your ideal client is already using, and start posting to them first.
The recommended posting frequency will also vary from one platform to another, along with the suggested days of the week and times of day to post for maximum engagement. To learn more, check out this post from our blog: The Science of Social Media: When to Post for Maximum Engagement.
Step 3: Stay organized with a content calendar
If you’re anything like our other clients, your schedule is so full that it’s nearly impossible to keep everything straight without a calendar. But this isn’t limited to tracking your appointments and other in-office duties – it’s also important to track your social media activity. Plus, when done effectively, it can save you a ton of time and effort in the long run!

Step 4: Use scheduling tools so you never miss a date
Another great – and super easy! – way to schedule out all of your social media posts in advance is with a tool like Social Genie.
After all the hard work you’ve put in to get yourself to this point, the last thing you want is to find out you’ve forgotten to keep up with your posting schedule. Fortunately, technology is just a tad more reliable than our own brains when it comes to following a schedule. It also tends to multitask a little better than we mere humans 🙂
Take advantage of scheduling tools like Social Genie that allow you to create posts for multiple platforms and schedule them out in advance, all with a few clicks of your mouse. Schedule an entire year’s worth of social media posts in just about 10 minutes.
We’ve also worked with professional content writers to create a library of over 1,000 pre-written posts, all designed to attract your ideal client.
Whether you’re taking advantage of our pre-written content or creating your own, all you need to do is insert the content into one of our pre-created campaigns, choose the days each week you’d like to post, and let it go!
