Behind the Vision: Will, Customer Support
We know a lot of companies say this, but here at Brighter Vision we think our customers are the greatest. Since the Brighter Vision process is designed to be so customized and personal to you and your vision, we get to know our customers pretty darn well – so we figured it’s only fair we return the favor!
Introducing Behind the Vision, where you can get to know a Brighter Vision employee a little better and get an inside peek at the team helping you grow your practice.
This month I sat down with Will, Director of Support and leader of our elite tech support team, to talk about him and his role at Brighter Vision. If you’ve ever taken advantage of your free tech support for life as a Brighter Vision customer, you have Will and his friendly team to thank. 🙂
How long have you been working at Brighter Vision?
I have been with Brighter Vision for 4 years this September.
Can you tell us about the path that led you to working at Brighter Vision?
My life came full circle upon being hired by Brighter Vision! I have a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Colorado State University and had aspirations of becoming a Mental Health Professional. After graduation, I moved to a small Colorado mountain town to enjoy the life and get my hiking/fishing/skiing fix (needless to say, one year turned into a few years). During this time, a friend introduced me to graphic design and I started teaching myself web design. Once the mountain life ran its course, I moved back to the front range of Colorado and decided to pursue my new found love for digital marketing!
After receiving a second degree in Computer Information Systems (web development), I found Brighter Vision! Making websites and helping Mental Health Professionals succeed online is where I was meant to be!
The rest is history : )
What’s your role here at Brighter Vision? / How do you spend your day?
My role at Brighter Vision is as the Director of Support. My job is to ensure that the customer experience stays positive once their website transitions from development to a live website. I manage a team that does everything from edits/additions, to answering questions, and solving problems. My day is spent reviewing all emails that come into our Support Desk and making sure the right team member is working on the right project. I am also fortunate to get to work on many different projects myself! It is never a dull day in support : )

Can you tell us about one of your favorite / most memorable Brighter Vision clients?
My career at Brighter Vision started as a Lead Web Developer. So, I have actually worked with and built websites for over 300 Brighter Vision clients! I love my current position because I get to continue to work with these folks.
It is hard to pinpoint any favorite clients, but I will always remember building washingtontherapist.com. Loved working with Mike Pecosh and his team! The reason why this build sticks out so much for me is that it was one of the first builds on our “Bubbles” theme. “Bubbles” became our most popular theme frameworks and this was the beginning for me (not sure if Mike knows that haha).

What’s one of your favorite Brighter Vision websites right now?
This changes weekly as I have my eyes on all the great work that our developers put out there! Right now, one of my favorite Brighter Vision websites is lukevuphd.com.au. It’s a clean design that shows his branding very well! A perfect example of how a client and developer can work together to fulfill a vision. Robin did a great job!
Luke Vu’s website, Luke Vu Phd., built by Robin.
What are your hopes for Brighter Vision in the future?
My hopes for Brighter Vision is to continue doing what we are doing! When I started in 2014, I was the 2nd employee and our goal of helping Mental Health Professionals was getting off the ground. You could say we were hanging out around sea level. I feel like we have now arrived at Base Camp and have a glimpse of the summit in site! (Sorry, I was recently reading an article about a Sherpa who has climbed Mt. Everest 22 times – wow!).
If you could give Brighter Vision therapists one tip about how to best use their Brighter Vision website and marketing tools, what would it be?
The best tip that I can give our clients is don’t try to do too much. The goals of a website in the mental health industry should be clear and simple:
1) Provide the basics of your services and niches – how you can help
2) Give the website viewer a chance to meet you and feel comfortable around you, before they even have the opportunity to walk in your door.
3) Give the website viewer an easy way to contact you/schedule an appointment
I also think that blogging regularly about topics in your field can help provide confidence to your website viewers that you are the right one for them. Google likes to see you blog as well : )
If you could suggest one of our blog posts to read TODAY, which would it be?
Understanding Search Engine Optimization is a very important read; SEO is a large part of the education that the Brighter Vision Support Team offers every day. Perry wrote a great article on understanding SEO that is a must read!
If Brighter Vision had an animal mascot, what would it be?
Well, my first thoughts here are something along the lines of a majestic eagle, or a hawk that can see everything!
I think I really would just want my old yellow lab Winnie to be the mascot though : )
Sweet old Winnie.
I wish Winnie could be our mascot, too!
Thanks so much to Will for spending the time with us today and telling us what he loves about being a part of the Brighter Vision family.

I love that you guys post pictures and stories about yourselves! I have family in Denver, and they are avid hikers, bikers, and runners, and love these activities especially in the mountains. Placing you there, Will, is a pleasant departure from working with people on other websites that I don’t have any clue about. I’m looking forward to working with you!
O my website rsrhodesphd.com the upper half of the screen is washed out on a phone
Thanks
Rollin Rhodes
