Brighter Spotlight with Gennifer Morley
Introducing March’s inspiring Brighter Spotlight, Gennifer Morley. Gen became a counselor after years of working in the medical profession.
While on the path to becoming a nurse practitioner, she realized that the aspect of medicine she most appreciated was supporting patients when they faced significant changes and challenges in their lives.
With years of experience and research, Gen has created an approach to counseling that’s the perfect balance of evidenced-based therapies and down-to-earth approachability.

Q: Tell us a little bit about you and your practice – what do you specialize in, where is your office, how often do you see clients, etc.
A: My practice – North Boulder Counseling – is located in Boulder, Colorado.
We specialize in anxiety for all ages as well as relationships. Our clinicians see clients every day of the week, but I personally see clients 2-3 days each week.
Q: Why did you become a therapist?
A: I love people. We are resilient, loving and amazing agents of creativity. Those aspects of us get stifled when we are anxious or depressed. Good therapy can make our lives bigger, allowing each person to have their best and biggest impact on the world.
Q: What is the biggest reason you’re glad you became a therapist?
A: I get to see people become who they always knew they were meant to be.
Q: What do you like to do in your free time when you’re not working?
A: Go outside and play.
Q: What gets you up in the morning?
A: The people I’m going to see that day.
Q: When did you become a Brighter Vision client, and why?
A: I wanted to grow my solo practice into a group practice and I knew I needed to manage my SEO (search engine optimization) to do that. I did not want to manage my own SEO so I hired the pros. The most successful people know what they are not good at and outsource it.

A: I still network because I love people, but I don’t do much else. I use that time for things I’m good at to maximize my Return on Time investments.
Q: What is your favorite part of your BV website? How does it represent you and your practice?
A: Its pretty, clean and easy to navigate.
The team followed my branding requests and the websites feel like an expression of me and the company mission in and artful and pragmatic way.
Q: What is something you now know about marketing your practice, or making a private practice website, that you have learned from your experience with BV?
A: Pay people who know more. SEO is a chess game that can get you cold calls and your website is the Queen in the chess game.
Q: How do you keep organized and on-schedule in your day-to-day life?
A: Good habits made from clear goals and integrated, scheduling, billing, and notes software.
Q: How do you make time for self-care with your busy schedule?
A: It’s not negotiable. Yesterday I went to the gym before my first clients even though I wouldn’t have time to shower after. Dry shampoo and some deodorant got me through and I knew I was better at my job all day for it.
Q: What other tools or services do you use to help boost your business?
A: I offer consulting to other therapists looking to grow and scale their practices as well as clinical supervision for new therapists. I absolutely love supporting people in finding their voice, their power and where the need is for those things.
Q: What have you found to be the most important piece of advice someone has given you about being a private practice owner?
A: Your time is unimaginably valuable. Start thinking of it as a precious resource. Take care of it.
Q: Do you have any pieces of advice for someone just starting their own private practice journey?
A: Don’t do it alone. You will grow your business and even yourself infinitely faster if you find a group or coach and folks to help you with SEO and marketing. I wish I’d done this in year one. Do it NOW.
