5 Ways to Freshen Up Your Private Practice to Attract New Clients
Write an E-Book…and Give It Away
As you may know, one of the best ways to strengthen your appeal to potential clients is to present yourself as an expert in your specialty. Writing an e-book is one of the best ways to promote your specialty and showcase your expertise to potential clients in a very real way.
When coming up with a topic for an e-book think about an area where you excel. Some examples could be the benefits of a certain therapy modality, a specific issue you’ve been successful at treating, or steps a client can take outside of sessions to help further their progress.
Now here’s an important part: give it away for free on your practice website. Not only have you just created a valuable piece of content that you can market multiple times through your website and other online marketing, but by giving it away for free you can ensure that it gets into as many hands possible. When giving the e-book away, make sure you require those interested to signup for your mailing list in order to receive it.
Add a New Service
A great way to expand your practice’s appeal to a new client base – or to strengthen your appeal with your current typical clients – is to add a new service to your practice.
For example, if you haven’t started supplementing your current clients with teletherapy clients, you are missing out on a lot of paying clients who simply wouldn’t be available to come into your office.
Consider adding a service like teletherapy or coaching to your practice to expand your potential client base even further, or an additional methodology that speaks specifically to your ideal client (e.g. EMDR).

Start Leading Events in Your Community
One inventive way to introduce yourself to a ton of local, interested potential clients at once is to start leading events or classes in your community. Consider holding a one-day course or group class that has something to do with one of your specialties (e.g. “How to Fight Less in Your Relationship”).
If you’re unsure where to start when it comes to where and how to hold a class, inquire with your local library or city hall. There are often opportunities for professional community leaders to create and lead their own local events.
Get Yourself in the News
We already mentioned that one of the best ways you can market yourself is to present yourself as a true expert – and what better way than be presented as a professional and an expert by the news itself?
Try inquiring with your local newspaper about the possibility for writing for their “local” or “community voices” section. You should also call your local news station to ask about being interviewed during one of their early morning time slots, which often have open spots. Local news organizations often run seasonal pieces related to Mental Health – examples include seasonal depression, back to school stress, and work / life balance.
Also, if you haven’t looked into the HARO (“Help A Reporter Out”) website, you might want to make that your first stop. HARO is an excellent resource where you can volunteer your expertise to any journalists looking for an experienced voice on your topic. (For example, wouldn’t it be great to be quoted as an expert in a published article about mental health trends?)
Update Your Online Marketing
If you’ve been letting your online marketing go stagnant, it’s time to fix that! Even if a new client introduces themselves to you through a different avenue (such as in person or over the phone), it’s very likely that they’ve already gone online to check into you and your practice.
For this reason, it’s always important to keep your online marketing up to date. Make sure you post actively on any social media accounts you maintain for your practice.
It’s even more important to keep your practice website up to date. Even if all your information is still correct, an old design format or clunky navigation can quickly turn off a potential client. Unfortunately, our brains tend to associate a website that is unattractive and hard to navigate with an unprofessional business.
But the good news is that it’s so easy to fix your outdated practice website! That’s what Brighter Vision does best.
