Brighter Vision Is Now Partnered With BetterHelp
***UPDATE – 6/15/21***
When Brighter Vision was approached by BetterHelp a little over a month ago about a partnership, we thought it would bring value to a particular section of our client base – those who are starting out and want to ease their way into private practice without the overhead startup costs associated with opening a new practice. However, after the feedback we have received from our valued clients, followers, affiliates, and partners we realize that continuing this partnership would violate our core belief to put our customers first.
With that said, we have decided to terminate our partnership with BetterHelp and have given them notice as of 6/15/21. Read more >>
***UPDATE – 6/13/21***
Thank you all for your feedback. We value your thoughts and are taking them to heart. Please know that we went into this partnership with only good intentions. On the surface, it felt like we negotiated a great deal for our clients: 6 months free to our service for no commitment other than signing up for BetterHelp.
Our goal is always to maintain the highest integrity and value for our clients. It is now clear that despite our intentions, this was not received how we had anticipated. The team at Brighter Vision has been speaking all Sunday morning about this and will be following up with the community soon.
– Perry Rosenbloom, President & Founder of Brighter Vision

BetterHelp clinicians are paid an hourly fee based on their caseload. The more clients you see per week, the higher the fee is. Please check their salary estimator for more information.
How much does it cost my clients to receive counseling via BetterHelp?
The cost of counseling through BetterHelp ranges from $60-$80 per week (billed every 4 weeks). Your clients are also free to cancel their membership at any time for any reason.
What’s the average income of a BetterHelp clinician?
According to BetterHelp, the estimated annual earnings of a full-time clinician (40 hours per week) is $100k. Use the salary estimator to check additional income estimates.
What does the approval process include and how long does it take?
The BetterHelp team ensures that every provider they bring to the platform is fully licensed and in good standing. When you apply, you’ll be asked to provide proper licensure documentation and proof of identity. Their team will then cross-check this information with your respective state licensing board.
In addition to checking credentials, each potential provider is also required to complete a case study exam graded by a licensed clinician and be evaluated in a video interview. Therapists who are applying to BetterHelp can see their first client within 1 week!
What are all the ways I can provide therapy to my BetterHelp clients?
There are 4 ways to communicate with your BetterHelp clients:
- Direct messaging (not live)
- Live chat
- Live phone sessions
- Live video conferencing
Your clients may also use different communication methods at different times as they wish, based on their needs, availability, and convenience.
How does messaging work?
Once a client has been matched with you, you will get a dedicated “room”, which will be your private and secure place to communicate. In this room, the client can give their backstory, write about things they’re going through, ask questions, etc. You (the counselor) can then read these messages and respond with questions, feedback, insights, and guidance.
Messaging can be utilized at any time, from anywhere, using any Internet-connected device. The room is open 24/7 and since messaging is not in real-time it doesn’t require scheduling. When you submit a new message, the client will be notified via email and vice-versa.
How do live chat sessions work?
Live chat offers the convenience and privacy of messaging but with a “live” interaction that allows for instant responses and feedback. Live chat sessions must be scheduled by the client.
How do live phone sessions work?
Phone sessions must be scheduled in advance. At the time of their appointment, your client will simply log into your counseling room. You (the counselor) will prompt the client to start the session and the system will then ask the client for their phone number. The system will then call the client at that number (the number will not be shared with you) and the two of you will be automatically connected at that time.
How do live video sessions work?
Live video sessions are virtual face-to-face appointments (similar to Skype or FaceTime). These sessions must be scheduled in advance. At the time of their appointment, your client will simply log into your counseling room. You (the counselor) will then start the video session, which will send them a prompt to join. Once they accept, you will immediately be connected.
Is it secure?
Absolutely, BetterHelp takes privacy and confidentiality very seriously! Here are just a few of the ways they ensure all information sent or received through their platform is kept secure:
- All the messages between you and your client are encrypted by banking-grade 256-bit encryption.
- Their servers are distributed across multiple Tier 4- AWS Data Centers for optimal security and protection.
- Their browsing encryption system (SSL) follows modern best practices.
- Their databases are encrypted and scrambled so they essentially become useless in the unlikely event that they are stolen or inappropriately used.
