How Often Should You Blog for Your Private Practice?
Anyone who has written for a blog has stared at their screen and wondered how often they should blog for the best results from their audience. Is the magic number once a day, once a week, or once a month?
The truth is, each blog has its own “magic number” of times they should post per day, week, or month – including yours.
Run through the advice below to get started and before you know it you’ll have the best posting frequency for your blog.

Isn’t “More” Always Better?
Surprisingly, no! While you may think that the more frequently you can post to your blog, the better, that’s not always true. Like many other aspects of running your private practice, blogging frequency is about managing your resources wisely.
Writing your own blog posts may be “free marketing” in the way that it doesn’t cost you hard cash, but it still costs you time and energy. If you post too often, your viewership and engagement per post could go down, and each hour you spent writing becomes less valuable from a marketing perspective.
It’s best to find a blogging schedule that is frequent enough to catch the eye of new potential clients, but that is still making the most of your efforts and limited resources.
Calculating Your Blog’s “Magic Number”
Set Up Your Test
Start by figuring out the maximum number of articles you could comfortably blog per week with your current schedule. How much time are you willing to commit to blog writing each week?
Next, you’re going to create two different blogging schedules to test against each other. I recommend that one blogging schedule is half the number of your maximum articles per week, and the other one is roughly three-fourths of your maximum number of articles. We’ll call them schedule A and schedule B.
For example, say that I find that the maximum number of articles I could write for my blog in a week would be six. My schedule A would include blogging three times a week, and my schedule B would include blogging around five times a week.
Run Your Test
Next, test your schedules against one another by first using schedule A to blog, then schedule B, and comparing the data. We suggest running each schedule for at least two weeks each, back to back, but the longer you can run them, the better!
Keep an eye on the web data for your blog posts with Google Analytics or a similar data analytics platform during this time.

Pay extra attention to how many visitors your blog posts receive and how many times each blog post is shared on social media. Compare the data for the blog posts from each test schedule to determine the more favorable results and select your winner!
Keep Running Tests!
This first test was just your first step. In truth, narrowing in on your blog’s “magic number” can be an ever-evolving task since your blog and your audience can evolve over time.
To truly narrow in on the best posting frequency for your blog, make sure you keep running tests. The best thing you can do for your blog – and for your marketing overall – is to never stop analyzing and testing.
Keep running tests between different posting frequencies, always making sure to include your current posting schedule (which should always be your best testing blog schedule). Each time you test blogging schedules against each other and thus improve your blogging strategy, you’ll get another step closer to building the blog audience of your dreams.
